Hey everyone,

It looks like this is truly the last installment of news on the Beefy/DC website. In fact, it seems like the band is pretty much a done deal. There has been talk of a new member or two to replace the dudes that just don't feel it anymore, but in all honesty, I'm not sure that would or should happen. I would like to maybe do a benefit here and there, but hey it's just not my call. So thanks for your support over the years and keep the rock 'n roll faith. -Ray

Hey All,
Well I guess the Beefy website will live on for at least another year. A few shows to announce. First, on Dec.14th at Johnny D's in Somerville we will be playing a benefit for "Right Turn". Right Turn is a non-profit company dedicated to helping artists who have drug and/or alcohol dependency issues. They're a great and usful resource for anyone involved in the arts who happen to have addiction issues they need help with. Also on the bill is the awesome Downbeat 5, and The Fighting Cocks. Also, on New Years Eve we'll be playing our usual Abbey Lounge gig. This year is pretty cool. Also on the bill is The Killer Abs (a bunch of MILFS who play punk rock covers) the Andrea Gillis Band, The Coffin Lids and the Prime Movers.

Hey everyone,
This is most likely the last installment of Beefy/DC news. I figure since we play so few shows these days, there is really no reason to keep paying to have a domain name. Anyway, we will be playing two more shows this year. Dec.14th at Johnny D's in Somerville, we will be playing a benefit show for Right Turn. Right Turn is a non profit that helps musicians who need help with addiction issues. Also, we'll be playing our usual New Years Eve show at The Abbey Lounge on Beacon St. in Somerville. See ya around. -Ray, Slade, Phil, Pete, Billy, Craig

Hey everyone,

Some of you from Western Ma. may remember my old band Miss Reed. Well, in the spirit of kicking a dead horse we decided to play a reunion show. We've had two practices so far. The first one was pretty horrible, but the second one was much less horrible. So I'm feeling pretty good about it. But seriously, it's been very fun for me to play music with my old band mates, and getting to play some lead guitar again has been much fun. The show will be in Northampton at The Elevens, which is located on Pleasant St. in downtown Northampton on Sat. Sept.24th. We are bringing two great bands from Boston with us. In fact both of these bands are at the top of their game having both just released new Cd's. Waltham (rykodisc) is a really fun power pop band routed firmly in their love of arena rock . Check them out at www.walthamtheband.com Also on the bill, The Rudds. One of my favorite bands in the world right now. Their sound is a mix of Cheap Trick, Todd Rundgren and Prince. The band features Tony Goddess, formerly of the pop band Papas Fritas. You can check them out at www.therudds.net

Hey everyone, Thanks for all of you who came to all the shows for the past eight months. We played a lot more than we had planned. Most likely because Bill Close was back for a while, and we all love playing with him so much, that when he's home, we take advantage of that. As I said in the last email, Beefy/DC is now going to take a much needed rest. When you play in a band like the Beef, you have to make sure it doesn't turn into a "too much of a good thing" thing. You know what I mean? We love playing gigs, but we want the shows to be more of an event rather than just another gig. So we are going to take off the spring and most of the summer. I'm sure we'll do our regular Cape Cod weekend. That's kind of turning into a tradition of sorts. About 15 bands from Boston have already asked to play with us at The Beachcomber. I don't blame them, it's a really fun place to play and hang out. So, my usual disclaimer: Nothing is written in stone. So check back, but for now the Beef is resting. In other news, go out right now and buy the new Dinosaur Jr. reissues out on Merge records. They sound incredible (remastered) and there is extra stuff like videos and new liner notes on each CD. Very cool. I'll be in LA next week to see them tape a performance for The Late Late Show. I believe the show is on the same night, April 15th. So tune in to see the first performance of the original line up of Dinosaur Jr. in 15 years. See ya around. -Ray

Hey all, Just a quick note to remind you that we are playing a Johnny D's in Davis Square Somerville in honor of St. Patricks Day. Come on down if you want to rock and drink Guinness by the gallon. Also, I will be playing a solo acoustic show on Sat. 3/19 at Toad in Porter Square Cambridge. Also, my wife, Tony Goddess and myself will be playing at a Kinks tribute night at The Abbey Lounge on Sat.3/26. We're calling ourselves "The Slap Happys". Cool, see you around the hood.

Hey all, So I guess we're in the dog days of winter right now. Sure can't wait for spring. Anyway, I can't believe I'm talking about the weather. Beefy/DC has a couple of shows coming up in March. These will be the last shows until summer time. We've played much more than ususal this winter, so we think a break is in order. We don't want anyone getting sick of us. So, the shows are, March 4th at the Midway Cafe in Jamaica Plain and then on March 17th (St. Patricks day), we are playing at Johnny D's in Davis Square, Somerville.
Hope you can make it.
-Ray
